We began a new project about 4 months ago. To create a new kind of retail destination unlike anything anywhere in China. And perhaps unlike any store anywhere.
Trine Targett, the owner and creator of Jooi Design, Rachel Speth and Jeff Delkin got together over numerous lunches to work out the idea.
The idea is this - Design with a Conscience
The ‘design with a conscience’ concept is demonstrated by both intelligent design and responsible manufacturing. Responsible manufacturing encompasses three aspects. The materials used are natural, renewable or recyclable, or the product creation process has a low impact on the environment, or there are distinct social advantages benefiting people in China.
We would select and include brands that demonstrated this idea and present collections that are available nowhere else in China.
The space is a newly renovated wonderful and airy loft space located in an old candy factory in the thriving Taikang Lu district in Shanghai.
The retail destination is called NEST.
We will have design talks scheduled, and we'll be offering China's only organic fairtrade coffee. A special 'Nest' blend from our friends at Arabica.
