2010 Design Award comes early

A nice way to get an early start into the new year.

We were thrilled to be recognized by the Housewares Design Awards, the industry’s most significant award designation presented by Homeworld Business and International Housewares Association.

This year the Finalist honor is awarded to for our innovative Bamboo Pebbles, for the Home Decor category.

Pebbles small

Our fun and delightful Bamboo Pebbles are made from the excess material from our cutting and serving items. Putting waste to use. And at the same time creating a fresh new product idea. The inspiration for the Bamboo Pebble came from the smooth and well rounded common river rock. There is something wonderfully pleasing about the tactileness of a hand-sized stone shaped and smoothed by the flow of water.

We are occasionally asked, ‘they are beautful, but what do they do?’ We point to them and explain, ‘they are doing what they do.’

Seriously though, they can be clustered together in a glass vase or jar, scattered in a corner, or used as a decorative table setting accent.

The Pebbles are packaged in a set of thirteen assorted shapes and sizes. Packed in a clever ’stand up’ box made from recycled kraft paper.

This is the second time bambu has been awarded. In 2008, we were awarded two finalist awards, and Best of Category for our bambu KIDS products.

Good start going into the new year. Thanks everyone for the support!
