These Environmental Groups Thank You

We thank you, our customers. We are grateful to the many of you who support our business. It is because of you we have the opportunity to share that support with other non-profit organizations doing good work to protect the environment for us all. 

We joined up with 1% For The Planet because of the power of the community. 

The sum is truly greater than its parts

The 1% for the Planet network spans the globe and connects companies and individuals with thousands of organizations and hundreds of thousands of people working to protect the natural environment.

As a member business of 1% For The Planet, bambu makes a commitment to donate at least 1% of our overall sales to nonprofit member organizations.

That means that by buying our products, and telling your friends and supporting our business, you are also supporting the non-profit organizations that protect the natural environment we all enjoy. 

Here at bambu, our teams from both China and Oregon are asked to select and vote for the groups they feel strongly about, after all, it is the efforts of everyone that makes it possible for bambu to be able to support the work of others.

There are hundreds….thousands of organizations that are doing good work. This year we are focusing our contributions on three main issues; Land, Water, and Wildlife. 

Some are local to Oregon. Some are international in scope. A few organizations are new for bambu, and others are renewed partnerships.

In all, it's a privilege to be involved with and support the work of many. 

LAND

Conservation Alliance - A curator of chosen projects that have the passion and ability to make important progress in protection. 

The Nature Conservancy - TNC has both the scale and the focus, with the support of science and strategy to solve many of our crises.  In Shanghai, a corp of volunteers promote gardening and urban farming to the cities' youth. 

Forest Stewardship Council - A key group leading the charge on responsible forest management

Deschutes Land Trust - A land resource of unequaled beauty available for many to enjoy and a personal source of enjoyment and awe. 

WATER

The Ocean Foundation - An organization of education and action around the world. 

Surfrider Foundation - A massive and energetic volunteer network of dozens of active local chapters focused on our oceans. 

Wild Salmon Center - Protecting the habitat of the salmon is critically important to the health and well-being of humans, other wildlife, our waters, and our land. 

ANIMAL

The Humane Society - Largest animal protection group with a massive volunteer network nationally

Oregon Wildlife Foundation  - Our neighbors in Portland. We were moved by the numerous projects they shine a light on. The one we're supporting is the Linnton frog migration project. Read more about that here.

World Wildlife Fund - with a particularly strong presence in Asia, the group focuses on wildlife preservation.
